Euro 2016: Germany's Ilkay Gundogan to miss tournament due to knee injury

Ilkay Gundogan had also missed out on the 2014 World Cup due to injury

Borussia Dortmund have said that their German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan will miss the Euro 2016 football championship because of a dislocated kneecap.

Gundogan's injury occurred on Tuesday during training, but Dortmund did not reveal the precise diagnosis until Friday, reports Efe.

Gundogan, a regular starter in Dortmund and Germany, had also missed the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil with a back injury.

Germany chief coach Joachim Loew lamented the injury of the player, stating that he will not play in the Euro.
