Euro 2016: Twitter erupts as Italy knock Spain out of the tournament

Antonio Conte’s boys thrash Spain 2-0

Italy storm into the quarter-final of UEFA Euro 2016 after beating Spain 2-0 in a round of 16 clash at the Stade de France in Paris. Spain were completely outplayed by Antonio Conte’s side, although David de Gea was exceptional for La Furia Roja and pulled off a number of impressive saves, with his single fumble costing Vicente del Bosque’s side the first goal.

Eder’s free-kick rebounded of De Gea, only to find Emanuele Giachcherini who flicked it to Giorgio Chiellini who opened proceedings for Italy. After eight years as European Champions, La Roja are eliminated in the round of 16. The Azzurri finished things off in style when Graziano Pelle scored in the injury time after being put through by teammate Matteo Darmian. Italy will now face Germany in the quarter-final at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux.
