Euro 2016: Twitter reacts as Germany annihilate Slovakia to reach quarter-final
Germany finally came to party at the UEFA Euro 2016, annihilating Slovakia in their round of 16 clash at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy to secure a berth in the quarter-final. Joachim Low’s side dominated the entire 90 minutes as Slovakia failed to make any clear impact on the game. Slovenskí sokoli lacked quality and never had the edge over the Germans.
Die Mannschaft drew the first blood when Jerome Boateng scored from outside of the penalty box, before Mesut Ozil missed the penalty after Mario Gomez was fouled inside the box by Martin Skrtel. Julian Draxler was the star of the show for the Germans, with the Wolfsburg man first providing the assist for Gomez’s goal, before getting on the scoresheet with a thunderous volley from around six yards out to make it 3-0 for the reigning world champions.

#GERSVK The first time I have EVER automatically doubted #Germany scoring a penalty. Reason: #Arsenal player taking the penalty :-)

Mesut Özil: Is the first player to miss a penalty for Germany in a competitive match since June 2015 (Schweinsteiger vs Gibraltar) #GERSVK

German misses penalty shock! Surprised Özil didn't try and pass for an assist.
— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) June 26, 2016
Özil didn't score the pen cause it'd break #SVK hearts and that's a sin. No sin in the holy month of Ramadan #GERSVK

Even when Skrtel finally gets called for a penalty on an idiotic, obvious foul, it still doesn't hurt his team.
