Euro 2016: Twitter reacts as Poland beat Switzerland on penalties

An ecstatic Polish team after winning their Round of 16 clash

Poland managed to make it to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 after they defeat Switzerland  5-4 in a penalty shootout after the game finished 1-1 at the end of 120 minutes. Granit Xhaka’s penalty was wide of the target and that cost Switzerland the match. Jakub Blaszczykowski opened the account for Poland while Xherdan Shaqiri equalised for the Switzerland with an exceptional overhead kick from outside the penalty box.

With an intense battle that went to the penalty shootout, Poland had the last laugh. Poland was under immense threat from Shaqiri especially in the later stages of the second half when the time was running down. Poland managed to keep him at bay and took it down to the wire. Eventually, Granit Xhaka’s horrific penalty is going to torment the Swiss fans for quite some time.
