Euro 2016: Virat Kohli thanks Germany midfielder Toni Kroos for his gift
Toni Kroos may be busy helping Germany in their bid to win the European Championship 2016 but he still found time to fulfill his promise to Indian Test captain Virat Kohli, who happens to be supporting Germany in the tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Kohli had posted a picture of himself with a Germany Jersey with the number 18, declaring his support for Germany. Ahead of Germany’s opening game of the tournament, Kroos promptly replied back to that tweet, praising the 27-year-old’s choice of jersey number.
He even went one better in that response as he also promised Kohli a gift.
Beautiful shirt and great number choice @imVkohli ! Awesome! Going to send you a gift #FirstNeverFollows https://t.co/A0u3n15WP3

The 26-year-old central midfielder was true to his word as he sent him a signed jersey. Kohli acknowledged as much in a tweet, soon after receiving his gift from the German international..
Thank You @ToniKroos

Sending a present for you as well. All The Best for the quarters #FirstNeverFollows #Euro16 pic.twitter.com/DPcY3sYpFn
Fresh from winning Real Madrid’s 11th European title, which they claimed by beating Atletico Madrid via a penalty shoot-out in the UEFA Champions League final in Milan, Kroos is well on his way towards helping Germany create history as well.
Having eased through the group stage and qualifying top of their group, Germany are now in the quarter-finals of the tournament in France. The central midfielder was integral to his side’s performance as they beat Slovakia 3-0 in the Round of 16 to secure their berth in the quarter-final, where they will now face Italy, who beat the reigning European Champions Spain 2-0.
Irrespective of whether Kroos goes on to win the European Championship or not, he has certainly gained a friend/admirer in the Indian Test captain, that he will have for long after the tournament is over.
Kohli, who is currently busy preparing for India’s upcoming tour of West Indies that begins this month, seems to be enjoying Euro 2016 as his side, Germany are looking like one of the favourites for the tournament.
Having not let in a single goal in the tournament so far, they have a solid defence but will have a tough examination against Italy in the quarters as they look to claim their first Euro in two decades.
