FBL-EUR-C3-CHELSEA-TRAINING

Chelsea haven’t had the best of their seasons this year as they saw themselves getting eliminated from the Champions League early on and getting relegated to UEFA’s second-most prestigious competition. However, the Blues put forward a good effort in this competition which has granted them an opportunity to bag some silverware this season.

Chelsea come into the game after a convincing 2-1 victory over Aston Villa and appear to be the favourites to lift the Europa League title. Benfica, on the other hand, come into the game after an upsetting last-minute defeat to arch-rivals Porto which left them one point behind Porto in the Portuguese Superliga.

Eden Hazard has been ruled out of the Wednesday’s clash after he suffered an injury after the 2-1 win against Aston Villa. John Terry and John Mikel Obi are also a doubt and a decision will be taken on the day of the game.

Here are some statistics prior to the game:

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Chelsea’s last five games in UEFA Europa League.

Chelsea and Benfica met twice in the Champions League last year in a two-legged quarter-final tie and Chelsea emerged as winners in both the legs.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their previous six fixtures as they have won five and drawn one game. Benfica, on the other hand, have won three, lost two, and drawn one.
