Everton set to sign former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o
Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o is edging closer to a surprise move to Everton, after being released by Chelsea at the end of last term, reports Sky Sports.
The former Barcelona striker is currently a free agent, and was under the viewfinder of Toffees' crosstown rivals Liverpool. But, the recent acquisition of Mario Balotelli deemed the 33-year old veteran surplus to their requirements and opted out of the race to sign him.
Subsequently, the blue half of Merseyside were quick to make the most of it, and now intend to bolster their attack further by the African's addition, having already signed Romelu Lukaku for €36 million on a permanent deal from Chelsea.
"There is a lot of money involved. At the moment, if I am honest with you, I am looking at all the options.", said head coach Roberto Martinez, when asked about reports of a link with Eto'o. "While the window is open we are looking at anyone who can help us and also looking at our injured players and how they react. We are going to make sure we make the right decisions," he added.
According to the reports emerging from England, Eto'o has put forth his demands of a two-year deal and £160,00,000 wages per week, which he may reduce in case he signs for a longer term.
