Moyes had a meeting with Toffees’ chairman Bill Kenwright earlier in the day, after which Kenwright said:
“At the end of the day David’s contract is up in six weeks time and he has a right to make his own decisions.
“He has served this club wonderfully well and he has a right to make his decision.”
Moyes has overseen more than 500 games at the club, serving the Merseyside outfit for 11 years. He will manage the side’s last two games of the season against West Ham United and Chelsea.
Everton also confirmed that they will be looking for a new manager, with Wigan boss Roberto Martinez said to be the favourite to fill the vacancy.
