Ex-Chelsea player Didier Drogba to join Juventus?
Juventus are thought to be closing in on a deal to bring Shanghai Shenhua striker Didier Drogba to Turin on a short-term loan.
Italian side, Juventus are tracking Didier Drogba, suggests Italian Paper La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The move is expected to be a short-term loan with a one-sided option for an additional season., but Juventus are said to be reluctant to meet the striker’s contract demands.
FIFA had recently ruled against Drogba’s bid to move outside the transfer window after FIFA released a statement about the relevant regulations, that players may only be registered during one of the two annual registration periods fixed by the relevant association.
However, Juventus are reluctant to meet the Ivory Coast international’s contract demands as the experienced striker wants a two-year deal, whereas the Old Lady are only willing to offer a six-month contract with a one-sided option for an additional season.
The Old Lady have been looking to sign a star striker since the last transfer window, and were even prepared to pay Llorente a 4-year deal worth 4 million Euros.
Drogba is now preparing for the 2013 AFCON, thus putting a doubt on his availability for Juventus’s Champions League fixtures.
The 34-year-old is currently preparing for the 2013 AFCON, where Ivory Coast will meet Tunisia, Algeria and Togo in the group stages.
