Ezequiel Garay on his way to Manchester United

According to leading Portuguese paper Record, Manchester United have a gentleman’s agreement to sign Benfica’s Ezequiel Garay. This 26 year old Argentine defender has previously played for Real Madrid. With high competition in the Madrid regiment, he was moved down the pecking order in the early Mourinho reign, this eventually resulted in him moving to Benfica in 2011.

Garay has been a potential target for Sir Alex for the long period of time which sucummed to a “handshake agreement” at the the beginning of this year. However, even with the departure of Sir Alex from the Old Trafford ranks, United still continue their quest to sign the Benfica stopper as a potential replacement for Rio Ferdinand. Garay has also been linked with the likes of Barcelona in the past but United hold pole position to land this player.
