Falcao on target as Monaco go top
PARIS (Reuters) - Radamel Falcao scored on his Ligue 1 return as Monaco went to the top of the table thanks to a commanding 3-0 home win over Stade Rennais on Saturday.
The Colombia forward struck three minutes before halftime and Thomas Lemar grabbed a late double to put the principality team on 13 points from five games following their seventh straight victory in all competitions.
Paris St Germain, who hammered Caen 6-0 on Friday, are second on 10 points with Nice, Metz, Girondins de Bordeaux and En Avant Guingamp capable of leapfrogging them later this weekend.
Falcao, who had not played in the league since August because of a thigh injury, headed home in the 42nd minute.
Rennes never really threatened a comeback and conceded twice in the dying minutes. Lemar latched on to a cross from Guido Carrillo in the 90th minute before making it 3-0 with a superb 25-metre strike.
