False Winger's take on transfer rumours: 10th May 2017
It's the business end of the season, and the summer transfer window is fast approaching. Rumours of transfers are flying around, and there is a lot of confusion among the fans.
Media outlets across the world are going to be reporting tonnes of rumours every day, and it gets a bit irritating for a lot of people. Having covered football for almost seven years now, I'm going to be debugging the biggest transfer rumours of the day from now till the end of the transfer window.
Here are the three biggest rumours of the day:
#1 - Guillem Balague names the 5 Galacticos' Real Madrid are targeting
So, the "La Liga expert" of Sky Sports has named the 5 top players Real Madrid are targeting for the summer, and they are: David De Gea, Paulo Dybala, Robert Lewandowski, Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe.
How trustworthy is this guy? He's good in analysing the games and stuff but not so much with the transfers. Here are some of the things he reported: Fernando Torres to Manchester United (2006), he moved to Liverpool; Xabi Alonso not leaving Real Madrid (2014), he moved to Bayern Munich 2 days later!
The names he has mentioned have been linked with Madrid for a long time. Apart from De Gea and Mbappe, I don't see anyone else moving to Bernabeu this summer. The other three have just signed new contracts and are highly unlikely to move this summer.
#2 - Gareth Bale agrees terms with Manchester United
Diario GOL reported this rumour late last night, and I covered this news for Sportskeeda this morning. However, on further 'investigation' I found that the rumour had no base to it.
Gareth Bale is happy at Bernabeu and sees himself as the ideal replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. If the club sees him the same way is not clear, but the Welshman wants to be a legend at Madrid and will continue playing there until he's asked to leave.
For our in-house WWE writer and Manchester United "fan", Lennard this is devastating news. He will have to transfer out Bale from his United team in FIFA 17 as he bought him today after reading about the rumour.
#3 - Barcelona plot move for Marco Reus
Mundo Deportivo ran reports this morning that Marco Reus is on the radar of Barcelona. This is is one of the rumours that we see every year and I believe that people are quite fed up with it.
Reus to Barcelona in the Spanish media is the equivalent of Reus to Arsenal in the English media. It's like that discussion in the office "We don't have a Barcelona rumour today, what to do?" and someone replies "Let's get Marco Reus to Barcelona!" and everyone agrees.
In simple words, people keep talking about corruption ending among politicians, but in the end, you know, it's never going to happen. This is the football rumour commensurate of it.
