Fantasy Premier League: 3 Players to drop and pick for Gameweek 14 | FPL Tips 2019

The Jose Mourinho bounce appears to be in full effect as Tottenham Hotspur were the only English team to win in the Champions League this week. Spurs have now scored seven goals in their last two matches and offer nailed on options such as Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son who are likely to play every minute of every game. Jumping on either of these players seems wise ahead of a busy week which sees teams playing three league games in seven days.

It is a good time to strengthen your bench with fixtures coming thick and fast. Tammy Abraham picked up an injury in Chelsea’s game against Valencia and the length of his absence is not known yet. The problem is at this time of the year, even one week out would mean missing three gameweeks so managers need to keep a close eye on Frank Lampard’s press conference on Friday.

3 Players to pick

Jamie Vardy (EVE)

West Bromwich Albion v Leicester City - Premier League

Jamie Vardy is in the form of his life under Rodgers and a visit of a struggling Everton side to the King Power Stadium offers another opportunity to captain the Foxes’ striker. No player has scored more FPL points than his 104 or scored more goals than his 12. He also leads the league for shots on target (SoT) (20) and has four assists as well.

Only Abraham (16) has been afforded more ‘big chances’ than his 15. Only Manchester City (37) have scored more goals than Leicester’s 31 this season and they are fifth for SoT with 67. Everton have conceded 20 goals this season, only West Ham (23), Watford (26), Norwich (28) and Southampton (31) have conceded more. They have kept just three clean sheets and allowed opponents 112 shots.

Mohamed Salah (BRI)

Liverpool v West Ham United - Premier League

Mohamed Salah was included in Liverpool’s squad for their visit to Crystal Palace but was an unused substitute as the Reds ran out 2-1 winners. He played 90 minutes against Napoli midweek, so he looks to be over the ankle problem. Despite missing two of their last five matches, he is second for goals (two) only to Sadio Mane in the Liverpool squad over that period and still beats the Senegalese for xG (expected goals) 1.9 to 1.8.

He also leads the way for SoT with eight, three ahead of Mane. Only De Bruyne (56) has notched more FPL points than Salah’s 53 in home matches. Liverpool have scored 17 goals in their six home matchesthis season, only Manchester City (21) have scored more. They are top for SoT in home matches with 47.

Brighton have conceded 11 goals in their six away matches this season, keeping just two clean sheets. Only Aston Villa have a higher xGC (expected goals conceded) (13.87) than Brighton’s 13.84 on the road this season.
