Fenerbahce's plane travelling to Manchester forced into emergency landing
The team plane carrying Fenerbache players to Manchester ahead of their Europa league clash against United on Thursday night ran into some trouble on its way to the City and was forced into an emergency landing,
The plane that was initially traveling from Istanbul to Manchester was forced to land in Budapest. A bird crashed into the plane cracking the front windshield which must have caused blurred vision for the pilot and hence the forced landing.
Their official twitter account sent out an update saying that there was no harm done and the players were all safe. A second plane was sent from Istanbul to pick them up at Budapest and ensure they arrived in Manchester avoiding any further delay.
Here’s an image of the collision:
The Fenerbache team consists of former United striker Robin Van Persie. This is the first time he will be facing them since leaving the club. He spent three seasons at Old Trafford winning the Premier League title once and is one of the all-time top scorers in the Premier League.
Jose’s United very different from Fergie’s
United face Fenerbahce in the Europa league after a hard-fought draw against Liverpool on Monday night. Many fans were thrilled with the point they got but some felt it was not the kind of approach expected from a United side in such a fierce derby.
Jose was very defensive in his tactics and as expected played for the draw so as to not lose points. David De Gea was still forced into some magnificent saves in the second half, one from Emer Can and another from Phillipe Coutinho.
While the point is still a very good result for United considering their relative form to Liverpool it begs the question if their style of play would be something that fans would love to say every time they play a big team whether home or away.
United have a very tough couple of weeks with first Fenerbache tomorrow and then Chelsea in the League this weekend. They also play Manchester City in the league, a fixture which is not that far away.
A top four finish is not the objective for United this season. Mourinho has already made it very clear they are aiming for the title but right now their biggest stars are struggling for form.
A good performance against Fenerbache would give the club some encouragement but it will not be an easy task.
