Fergie turns attention to van Persie

It’s now time for United to turn their attention to van Persie. The failure to land Lucas is heart breaking, but it is best that United now look for other options. Robin van Persie is keen on joining United, costs only 20 million, and is definitely worth the price. No defence in the world would be able to handle the partnership of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie. It would ensure United win the Premier League title, and make them serious contenders for the Champions League.

The Manchester Evening News reports the following:

Earlier this week Roberto Mancini virtually conceded defeat in his attempts to lure the Dutchman to City and Juventus, the other contenders in a three-way battle, are now thought to have cooled their interest after being confronted with his hefty wage demands.

That leaves the Reds at the front of the queue – and M.E.N. Sport understands van Persie could jet in to sign as early as tonight.

The news clearly says that he could jet in as soon as tonight for agreeing personal terms and going through a medical. But, it’s not done till it’s actually done. We’ve witnessed this before, where several news sources claimed that Lucas would join United very soon. On the contrary, he’s snubbed United for PSG. So let’s not get too excited about this news. But as far as I know, the Manchester Evening News is a solid source of information.
