Fernandes to undergo a medical
Brandon Fernandes has arrived in the UK, and is set to undergo a medical before his proposed 2 week long trial at Reading FC, as confirmed by his father and his academy ASD.
Fernandes has been creating waves amongst Indian football fans ever since the news of him being offered a trial by the Premier League outfit broke out.
Brandon Fernandes’ father Jaju Fernandes has confirmed that Brandon has arrived in England for his 2-week-long trials at Reading FC.
“He (Brandon) has arrived in the UK and will have his medicals,” Jaju toldĀ Prudent Media, while also praising his son’s discipline and hard work.
“All this has happened because my son is a very good disciplinarian. His discipline on and off the field is very good. I am associated with Goan football for many years. I have seen better players than my son, but my son has better discipline and hard work,” he said.
“Above all, our prayers took him to this height,” he continued. “I am very happy to know that Brandon has received an invitation by Reading Football Club in UK.”
Jaju Fernandes, a former executive member of the Goa Football Association (GFA), further stated that, given this opportunity to play for a bigger club, Brandon has to prove himself to make it among the elite footballers.
“We always wanted that our son should play for a bigger club. My son has talent, but there were no such big opportunities. Now God has given him this opportunity, and now Brandon has to prove himself. Going to UK for Reading FC is a big achievement.”
A press release from the academy stated, “ASD Cape Town are pleased to confirm that Brandon Fernandes arrived safely in the UK for the start of a trial period with Reading FC.
“Brandon, his family, and all at ASD Cape Town would like to thank those who have sent messages of encouragement to Brandon. Be assured that the enormous level of support he has received has equipped him well for the challenge ahead.
“Brandon is on a 2-week trial, and there will be no further updates from ASD Cape Town or Brandon’s management until the end of this period. This is in order to allow Brandon the space to fully focus on the task in hand.
“Thank you for your continued interest, and we look forward to bringing further news soon.”
