FIFA accused of violating Suarez's human rights

Brasilia, July 5 (IANS/EFE) Uruguay's National Institution for Human Rights said that FIFA violated the human rights of their football player Luis Suarez after suspending him for four months from any football-related activity.

The institution said Friday that FIFA's sanctions against Suarez violate the Uruguayan constitution and the international laws relating to work and personal freedom. The statement also added that the sanctions were cruel and hasty, reports EFE.

Along with the suspension, Suarez was also handed a nine-match ban after biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during a World Cup Group D match.
