FIFA U-17 World Cup: Twitter questions Sachin Tendulkar's appearance in official anthem
The official anthem of the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 was released yesterday and it is the first time any FIFA event anthem has had so many Indian connections, mainly because of the fact that India is the host nation and its national team will make their first appearance at a FIFA World Cup.
The anthem showcases the world of FIFA U-17 World Cup in a 90-second video, with eminent personalities of the sport and the host nation coming together to put together a wonderful compilation that would surely get the excitement up for next month's mega event.
That said, certain sections of Indian football fans were far from happy with the video, as evident from their reactions on Twitter. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar's appearance at the end, notably, was a sore point for a majority of the Indian football fans wanting to catch a glimpse of Sunil Chhetri or IM Vijayan in the clip. Here are the reactions to the anthem release, most of it expressing disappointment at Tendulkar's cameo appearance.
However, there is some rationale behind Tendulkar's cameo appearance in the video, as explained by these tweets.
