The first match held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi witnessed an enthralling battle between two of the hottest contenders for the trophy, Brazil and Spain, as the former came from behind to notch up a 2-1 victory.

In the second half, Spain dominated the game as their intents were nothing else than to level the scores, and they triggered the attack throughout the next half. However a strong, stern Brazilian side thwarted wave after wave of attacks from Spain.

The performance of the South American side was enough for them to capture their first victory. With this hard fought victory, Brazil have already given the opponents a clear signal of intent.

Brazil

Gabriel Brazoa: 7

The Cruzeiro Esporte Clube player had a decent game in Kochi. The player failed to deny the uncomplicated effort from the Spanish side, which gave them the lead earlier.

However, Gabriel displayed a fair game as he was there to challenge many Spanish attacks in the second half.

Wesley: 6

The defender had a bad day in the office as his final touch was the root cause for the goal conceded by the Brazil.

Vitão: 6

Akin to what the game was for Wesley, Vitao also failed to withold the crosses from Spain. However, Vitao rearguarded the Brazilian defence throughout the match, and held fort at crucial times.

Lucas Halter: 7

The Atletico Parananese defender stood firm as a central defender. He was able to thwart almost all Spanish attacks in the second half.

Weverson: 6.5

Weverson was seen often in the wings, creating blitz, denying Spanish offensives and providing the forwards with adequate passes.

Victor Bobsin: 7

The Gremio midfielder had a decent game in the park. He played an integral part in the Brazil midfield. Bobsin marked his presence with some fine ball control and piercing passes to the attackers.

Alan Souza: 8

The Palmeiras player was seen excelling throughout the game. He had a lot of attacking intent, and often went in support of Benner and Alan to outplayed his opponents in the left flank. He produced some fine, vivid game for the fans to enjoy.

Marcos Antonio: 8

The Atletico Parananese player was in command throughout the match. Though, scant in height, he controlled the game for the Brazilians and provided the attackers with radiant passes.

Brenner: 8

The left forward had a good day with the squad. He was integral to the team's attack as he functioned by himself to overtrun the Spanish defenders when the time mattered.

Lincoln: 8

The Flamengo centre forward pocketed the first goal for the Brazilians in the tournament. He linked up with Paulinho, making it a nightmare for the Spanish defenders.

Paulinho: 9

Paulinho was the man who pulled all the strings from the middle of the park, for Brazil. A midfielder with a blessed ability to exploit minisucle spaces, the man hailing from Rio De Janeiro was a regular peril to the Spaniards.
