FIFA U17 World Cup: Indian U17 star trolls teammate Anwar Ali for emotional post
India U17 midfielder Nongdamba Naorem trolled his teammate Anwar Ali on his Instagram post regarding the foot injuries he sustained during India’s second group game against Colombia. Ali’s post had the caption: “The suffering one has to endure is excruciating, but at the end of the day what gives me comfort is that you are fighting for billions of people and for the country. I wouldn't mind endless such moments for the proud Republic of India. #bleedblue”
Naorem’s comment on the post was “Sale....kahase laya English ha ha” (Bro where did you bring so much English from) which is a very common joke anybody makes about a person’s English-speaking skills. The Instagram post had come out two days before when there were concerns about Ali’s fitness and his availability for India’s final match against Ghana.
Nongdamba’s comment was a pretty hilarious one and was pretty much well received by others commenting on that post. Last night, both Ali and Nongdamba started for India against Ghana with the latter being substituted in the second half.
Anwar played the entirety of the match and was brilliant in the first half. However, in the second half, he could not prevent Ghana from thrashing the hosts 4-0 which confirmed their elimination from the tournament with the joint record for the worst performance by a host nation at the U17 World Cup. India lost all three matches conceding nine goals in the process and finished the World Cup with a -8 goal difference.
Ghana’s win won them Group A with Colombia also qualifying by defeating USA 3-1. The USA ended their group third but are assured of a place in the knockout stages.
