FIFA World Cup 2014: Neymar says his World Cup dreams not over yet
Brazil’s favourite son and superstar Neymar was ruled out of the World Cup last night after he suffered a broken vertebrae in the quarter-finals. The 2-1 victory was a bittersweet experience for the Barcelona forward and the whole of Brazil as the soul of the country seemed to have been ripped out on the announcement of the news.
The Brazilian, however seems to be not done with the World Cup just yet. CBFA along with Neymar released a video today in which Brazil’s number 10 thanked the people of Brazil for supporting him during this tough time and said that his dream of being the champion of the World Cup will now be on the shoulders of the players of the Brazilian National Team.
In the 1 minute 20 second emotional video, he says:
"Brazilian people - players, coaches and fans; this is a very tough moment. I am struggling with words to express my thoughts at the moment. I want to tell you that I'll be back to the field as soon as possible. I would like to thank you for your support and affection expressed through the messages that have been sent to me.
Neymar, who evidently was speaking with eyes all swollen continued; "My dream has not yet ended, it was momentarily put on hold due to an incident, but it is still alive. I am sure my team-mates will make sure that I can achieve my dream, which is to be a World Cup champion.
"Another of my dreams was to play in the final of a World Cup, but I won't be able to do it now. Although I'm sure that my team-mates will win and be champions along with me, and we, the Brazilian people, will be celebrating this achievement.
"Thank you all.?"
