Fiorentina demand £27 million as Juan Cuadrado reveals interest in joining Chelsea
Chelsea have been reportedly told that Juan Cuadrado will depart Fiorentina when his £27 million release clause is met. Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Montella said that he would be powerless to stop the player from leaving if his buyout price is met and the player is willing to make a switch to the EPL side.
When asked about the transfer situation, Montella said: “The issue around Cuadrado is very simple: he has a buy-out clause, which was written into his contract along with the club.
"If a team comes along and pays it, and the player wants to leave, then he can go”.
He further added: “This clause expires during the last few days of the transfer window, but as far as we are concerned the player is not for sale."
Cuadrado joined Fiorentina in July 2012 and scored his first goal with the club against Cagliari. He finished the season with five goals and six assists. In the 2014 FIFA World Cup 2014, he was named among the 23-man squad of Colombia and scored the team’s opening goal from a penalty in 4-1 defeat of Japan.
In the current season, he has scored four goals and assisted four more in 16 league appearances and has been linked with a transfer to Premier League since the summer.
