Five things we learnt from Week 11 in La Liga

It rained goals on a mad night at the Bernabeu

Real Madrid went from Camp Nou losers to seventh heaven as they beat Unai Emery’s Sevilla 7-3. Carlo Ancelotti described it as a “mad game” afterwards – that might even be an understatement.

There were 10 goals, 3 penalties – one missed by Ivan Rakitic as he got dizzy at the prospect of a Bernabeu hat-trick – and a second-half red card for Sevilla’s on-loan Stephane M’bia.

In total the match had 31 shots – just over one shot every three minutes. Madrid had 10 on target, with seven more wide of the mark, while the visitors even managed six on target themselves.

Imagine how much higher the score could have been if the Andalusians’ hadn’t had eight shots – including Rakitic’s penalty – miss the target.
