Cristiano Ronaldo risking his career comments denied by his doctor
Cristiano Ronaldo, who underwent an MRI scan on Saturday before the game against Germany, was reportedly advised by his doctor Jose Carlos Noronha to rest for two months or risk his career.
Spanish newspaper El Confidencial ran a story regarding Ronaldo’s knee injury which has been troubling him since the past few weeks, saying Dr Noronha a knee specialist reportedly said “If Ronaldo does not stop and rest, his future is in danger.”
This story was making the rounds on English and other European media outlets when it turns out reports of Ronaldo risking his career were complete false.
Portugese news website O Jogo, contacted Dr Noronha about his quotes on the 29-year old fitness and the doctor has wholly denied making any such assessment or even contacted by the Spanish newspaper.
The World Player of the Year, was reported to be seen training alone with an ice pack on his left knee. Portugal cannot afford to lose any more players with defender Fabio Coentrao and striker Hugo Almeida limping off from the 4-0 defeat to Germany. The Real Madrid star acknowledges that he can till make a difference to the team without him being at his physical best.
Ronaldo was quoted as saying “ I would like to be 110% fit, but I’m 100% and that should be enough to help the national team.”
