Former agent claims Neymar is wanted by three big clubs
The stories and rumours around Neymar’s future refuse to go away this summer. His former agent Wagner Ribeiro has revealed that there are three big clubs who are looking at his signature.
Neymar has been in talks with Barcelona over a new deal for sometime now but that hasn’t repelled clubs from being linked with the Brazilian. Neymar was in the US recently supporting his country in the Copa America Centenario.
But thanks to a highly controversial hand-ball goal they were eliminated in the group stages itself. Barcelona and the Brazil football federation had earlier agreed that he would only take part in one of Copa America or the Rio Olympics.
There have also been several reports saying Barcelona might look to offload one of their MSN because of financial restrictions but those rumours are mostly false. Neymar has stated several times in the last 6 months that he is happy at Barcelona.
Neymar's former agent told Radio Jovem Pan about the clubs interested in the forward. “There are three big clubs who want to sign Neymar and to pay Barcelona his €200m clause. I cannot say anymore in this conversation because it is confidential. I can only assure you that Neymar is happy in Barcelona.”
Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have been the clubs that have shown interest in the past year and it is very likely they are the same three to have been stated by the agent.
Barcelona would not want to part with their superstar especially with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez close to entering their 30s. The trickster is seen as the future of the club and Enrique would want to build the team around him once their current talisman has called it a day.
Neymar’s contract runs out in 2018, but the Catalans are desperate to keep him at the Camp Nou. His form did taper towards the end of last season but he still netted an incredible 31 goals in 49 appearances and also created several for his teammates.
Barcelona have been linked with several forward options recently with Hatem Ben Arfa and Alexandre Lacazette rumoured to be potential targets. But those players are mostly meant to add to their bench strength.
