Former Barcelona teammate Ronaldinho congratulates Lionel Messi on his record-breaking acheivement

Former Barcelona star Ronaldinho is the latest to come out in praise of Lionel Messi’s record breaking feat, calling the Argentian awesome. In the past, Messi has spoken about the role played by Ronaldinho early on in his career and had said that the Catalan Giants should always be grateful to him for what he did for the club.

The 27-year-old scored a hat-trick and in the process, broke Telmo Zarra’s all-time La Liga record of 251 goals in his side’s 5-1 thrashing of Sevilla at the Nou Camp on Saturday.

Writing on his Instagram page, The former Brazilian forward congratulated Messi and said that he felt rewarded to have played a part in Messi's amazing journey at the club.

Ronaldinho wrote: “Congratulations my friend, you deserve it.

“Being part of this story is very rewarding and seeing you today is a great pride, you conquered us all with your humility and talent!!! Congratulations Leo, family and Barcelona, you're awesome!!!"
