Former Manchester United star Roy Keane announced as assistant manager at Aston Villa
Former Manchester United midfielder has become assistant manager at Aston Villa, under boss Paul Lambert.
Keane played for Celtic just after Lambert yet and upon retiring due to injury he held managerial positions with Sunderland and Ipswich Town. Recently he was appointed assistant manager to the Republic of Ireland national team to work under new manager Martin O’Neill.
A regular pundit for ITV before quitting just before the World Cup, Keane had been in talks with Aston Villa recently and now Villa offically announced on Twitter that move is sealed.
It wasn’t a good season for Aston Villa as they finished 15th in the Premier League, just five points ahead of the relegation zone.
Lambert won plenty of praise for the way some of his young players played but he knows that they need to start producing better results and he will be hoping that the arrival of Keane will add some steel to his team.
