Former Manchester United striker says Luis Suarez could play for Real Madrid

Diego Forlan

Former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan believes Liverpool super star Luis Suarez could play for Real Madrid next season.

The Uruguayan international was the Premier League's top scorer last season and bagged the PFA Player of the Year Award. He is currently with his national side for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and netted twice to help Uruguay seal a 2- victory over England in Group D fixture.

Forlan, who shares the dressing room alongside Suarez with the Uruguay national team believes the former Ajax man is currently one of the best players in the world. The former Inter Milan striker claims the Liverpool star could fit well with the Champions League winners.

"I tell you - he is one of the best. He is a player who is in great physical and footballing condition and could very well play for Real Madrid. He is one of the best in the world," Forlan told in an interview with AS.

"There are some big attacking players and you can name Luis as one of them. He is alongside Messi, Cristiano, Ibrahimovic. All are huge and to choose between one or the other is a matter of taste."

"Without a doubt," he added when asked if Suarez, who has repeatedly been the subject of rumoured interest from los Blancos, had the class to shine at the club," the former United striker added.

Suarez is subjected to a summer battle as two Spanish giants Real and Barcelona are fighting for the Reds hitman's services. According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the South American hotshot has £68m release clause and the La Liga outfits are ready to meet his asking price.

Should Suarez leave Liverpool, it will be a major blow for Brendan Rodgers and his side as it will be hard for the Anfield club to replace their star striker.
