Fourteen Real Madrid players called up for national duty

Isco selected in Spain squad to face Ecuador

Fourteen Real Madrid players have been called up for national duties.

Iker Casillas, Alvaro Arbeloa, Sergio Ramos, Isco, Sami Khedira, Mesut Ozil, Karim Benzema, Denis Cheryshev, Fabio Coentrao, Pepe, Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo, Angel Di Maria and Luka Modric have international matches on August 14.

With the exception of Cheryshev, who will be representing Russia in the 2014 World Cup qualifying match against Northern Ireland, all other players will be featuring in friendlies.

The matches include Spain-Ecuador, Germany-Paraguay, France-Belgium, Portugal-Holland, Brazil-Switzerland, Argentina-Italy and Croatia-Liechtenstein.

Isco had this to say on becoming the first Malaga born player to be selected for Spain,”I’m very happy. It’s always a thrill when you’re called to play for your country and my teammates have congratulated me.”
