Franz Beckenbauer warns Toni Kroos against making unreasonable wage demands

Bayern Munich’s honorary president Franz Beckenbauer has warned Manchester United target Toni Kroos not to make unreasonable wage demands after the Red Devils reportedly offered the German £250,000 a week, according to Sky Sports.

The 24-year-old, who produced an outstanding display in the Champions League last 16 first leg victory over Arsenal, is yet to agree a contract extension with the Germans, despite the fact that his current deal is set to expire next June.

The Bavarians are keen to keep the midfielder but are wary that he will hold the club to ransom with the news that their English counterparts are prepared to triple his current wages at the Allianz Arena.

“Bayern will make an effort to keep him, but when the demands are too high, a decision will be made. There is no player who you have to give everything to keep. Everyone is replaceable,” Beckenbauer insisted.

Pep Guardiola’s side have an array of midfield talent and will be unlikely to entertain such huge demands from Kroos, even though he been an influential figure this season.

Meanwhile, United boss David Moyes is keen to add new recruits to his midfield ranks and believes that Kroos can provide the creative spark that has been missing from his side this season.

Having failed spectacularly in his first summer transfer window at Old Trafford Moyes will want to avoid the same mistakes and is believed to be willing to spend big to secure the best talent available and the £250,000 on the table for Kroos would instantly make him amongst the club’s best paid players.
