Fulham attempt ambitious double swoop for Manchester United starlets

Fulham have approached Manchester United with the intention of signing youngsters Ryan Tunnicliffe and Larnell Cole on loan until the end of the season, Sky Sports report.

The duo are known to manager Rene Meulensteen from his time at Old Traffordunder Sir Alex Ferguson, having earmarked them as promising talents in the Red Devils’ academy.

Neither are yet to feature for United in the Premier League, but have a couple of League Cup appearances between then, as well as a series of loan spells.

Tunnicliffe enjoyed a successful loan spell at Ipswich Town earlier this season, making 27 appearances for the Tractor Boys in their good first half of the season.

He has returned to Manchester United, but could well be heading back down south again, as Meulensteen looks to add to his relegation-threatened squad.

It had been noted under predecessor Martin Jol that the Fulham squad had a lot of players in the latter stages of their career involved, so Meulensteen has taken to injecting some youth into the squad in a bid to stave off the threat of the drop.

He hopes to have their signatures until the end of the season wrapped up by Friday, with the deadline for transfers arriving at 11pm in what could be a busy day for Fulham.

They have already snared the signing of William Kvist from Stuttgart until the end of the season and hopes to have Lewis Holtby available as well after terms were agreed with Tottenham Hotspur for the German international.

Ryan Tunnicliffe created 22 chances during his loan spell at Ipswich, more than any Fulham midfielder has managed this season.
