Fulham boss Felix Magath admits using Spurs’ Lewis Holtby for information
Felix Magath has confirmed he has been talking to Lewis Holtby all week in the hope of getting inside information on Tottenham Hotspur, prior to Fulham’s clash with their troubled London rivals on Saturday.
Holtby arrived on loan at Craven Cottage in January after finding himself on the fringes of the Spurs squad under Tim Sherwood and Magath has confirmed that he will be tapping into his fellow German’s knowledge of the players in order to give Fulham the best possible chance of picking up a vital three points in their fight against the drop.
Much has been made of inside information following Cardiff City’s spying allegations against Crystal Palace, but Magath believes it is only natural for managers to try and find out as much as possible prior to every game.
Magath told reporters, “I always ask the players – John Heitinga against Everton and now Lewis against Tottenham.
“Sure I ask Lewis how he sees the situation, how a certain player is, but it is not the only information I will get. I try to get all the information I can get.
“You try to get any information you can. I’ll try also to get information from Tottenham for Saturday.
“It is always a problem if you are not careful with information. Maybe it happens sometime.
“I think Tottenham will also try to get information from us, you can not blame anyone for trying to get information. If you are lucky, you can, so it is good.”
