Gabri reveals Suarez's eternal desire to play for Barcelona
Former Barcelona star Gabri says Liverpool striker Luis Suarez always wanted to join Spanish giants Barcelona.
The Uruguayan talisman was in red hot form for the Merseysiders last season, racking-up a record equalling 31 goals in 32 appearances and is also a joint Golden boot winner with Cristiano Ronaldo. His dazzling performances has indeed attracted interests from some of the high-profile European clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Arsenal however, Liverpool would not approve of letting their prolific striker go especially when Champions League football is back at Anfield.
Gabri asserted hes in touch with his former Ajax team-mate and affirms Suarez would like to join the Catalan side and it would be a good addition to the team. "He's a player who always considered coming here one day and if he did, I would be very happy." he told La Xarxa. Quoting further he adds, " I think Baraca would be making a great signing. He would adapt very quickly because of his hunger and he would be a good fit for the club. He also has his wife's family in Barcelona."
To his ruthlessness in front of the goal, the 35-year old Champions League winner says, "Luis Suarez is a goalscorer. He can score goals out of practicaly nothing. He wears number 9 but he has also played on the wing sometimes."
Luis Suarez returned to the fore last Thursday as he netted both the goals in his side's 2-1 vital win over England. However, the 27-year old hobbled-off in the final minutes due to a slight strain in his knees.
Uruguay play their last group game in a 'make-or-break' clash against Italy tomorrow, with Suarez spearheading the line-up.
