Gareth Bale names the best player he has played with and it is not Cristiano Ronaldo
Welsh star, Gareth Bale, has named the best player he has ever played with—and it is not his Real Madrid teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo. The former Tottenham Hotspur sensation named another Welsh legend, Ryan Giggs, as the greatest player he has ever had the privilege of playing with, hailing him as his idol growing up.
In an interview with Foot Locker, he chose to snub Cristiano Ronaldo in favour of his compatriot something that seems a bit absurd given that he could only ever play twice with the Manchester United legend.
"For me, the greatest player is Ryan Giggs. He was my hero growing up and is a legend in world football. It also helps he’s a fellow Welshman,” he said.
Gareth Bale’s adulation for Cristiano Ronaldo seems to have faded ever since the Welshman joined Real Madrid. Prior to that, he always took to Twitter to lavish praise on the former Sporting starlet and even considered him the better player when compared to Lionel Messi.
This is not to suggest that the two are going through a rough patch in their relationship as they have often been pictured sharing a giggle or two among themselves.
The former Spurs winger, who started his career at left-back, has featured in 137 games for the Blancos, scoring 65 goals in the process. His performances with the Whites has earned him a mammoth £15 million a year deal.
Despite the fact that he is yet to blast to his best with the Galacticos, something which the fans are waiting for ever since he joined the club, he is expected to take over from Cristiano Ronaldo once the Euro winning Portugal captain leaves the king’s throne at Real Madrid.
Gareth Bale has made a decent start to the season, scoring 7 goals in 14 games thus far. However, if he is to be considered as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, then his scoring ratio must be a lot higher.
For Wales, however, Gareth Bale is always the player that takes them out of the blushes with his phenomenal displays of sheer brilliance.
Real Madrid are currently the leaders in La Liga with 27 points from 11 games. They are closely followed by Barcelona, 25 points, and Villarreal, 22 points, from as many games.
