Video: Barcelona star Gerard Pique helps rival fan after bike crash

Pique was the first to reach the spot to help the victim

Barcelona star Gerard Pique showed his humane side after coming to the aid of a rival fan involved in a motorcycle accident. The former Manchester United man has been in the news recently for all the wrong reasons.

Pique endured a frustrating start of the season after new Barcelona coach Luis Enrique dropped the Spaniard. Off the field, Pique didn’t help his cause after coming up with the classic brat rant of ‘Don’t you know who I am?’ to police officers after the Spanish international got fined for improper parking.

However, the Barcelona man seems to have turned a new leaf after the birth of his second child, Sasha Piqué Mebarak, with international pop star Shakira in January. In a recently released video, Pique can be seen going out of his way to help the victim of a motorcycle accident.

The man in question, Frans Aviles, recalled how Pique was the first one to come to his aid following the motorbike accident that left him with a broken leg. Pique, who was passing by when the accident occurred, stopped his car and ran over to check on the Mr Avlis. The Barca star also waited with him before he was taken to hospital.

The Barcelona man, at the time, didn't even know that the man he saved was a massive Espanyol fan. Espanyol is Barca's bitter local rivals. Aviles, in the interview, revealed that he is such a big Espanyol fan, he even got married at Estadi Cornellà-El Prat, Espanyol’s home ground.

Aviles also admitted to having thrown relentless abuses at Pique during Derbi barcelonís, the most played local derby in La Liga history. Aviles is not going to turn into a Barca fan anytime soon, but at least promised to stop shouting abuse at his saviour during future derbies.
