Gerard Pique says he'll bet his arm over Neymar joining Real Madrid
Gerard Pique is an outspoken man. His antics on social media, mainstream media and generally everywhere else has often caught everyone's attention and you can expect nothing less on his latest comments on Barcelona teammate, Neymar.
Speaking to reporters and the world on Periscope after their 2-1 win over Sevilla in the Liga BBVA, Pique insisted that Neymar – who has repeatedly been linked with a move to arch-rivals Real Madrid – will not join the Los Blancos. Several tax problems off the pitch has reportedly bothered Neymar and his family, and clubs like Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid are offering a helping hand in tackling said problems.
Pique, however, reiterates that Neymar has a future at Real Madrid and so does he – since he's been linked with a move back to former club, Manchester United.
"I'll bet my arm that Ney never goes to Real Madrid. He likes Barcelona a lot, he loves this club and I think he'll remain here for many years to come," said Pique.
"I'm very happy at Barcelona. United is my second club, but my future is here," he added.
While Pique acknowledges Neymar's brilliance on the field, he doesn't forget his other teammate and five-time FIFA Ballon d'Or winner, Lionel Messi.
"Messi generates everything - play, assists, goals," he said.
"It's a luxury and a pleasure to have him in the team. His technical quality and vision of the game is out of this world. Also, he's got the freedom to roam and look for the best option. Some teams are better than stopping him than others but really, it's impossible."
Barcelona are yet to lose a game since the last time they played Sevilla and they have an untarnished perfect record in the second half of the season but Pique says it doesn't mean anything if there's no trophy in the end.
"Records are very nice, but they don't win you leagues. We've still got to finish off the campaign. It's been going well for us but Madrid are not our only rivals - there's Atlético in the league, Sevilla in the Copa and then there's the Champions League”.
Barcelona now have two away games to look forward to: Rayo Vallecano and Eibar.
