Gerrard and Terry still good enough to play for England according to EA SPORTS statistics

EA SPORTS PPI finds Gerrard and Terry good enough to carry on playing for England

Both John Terry and Steven Gerrard have captained the national side before and are still leading their respective clubs in the Barclays Premier League. Both of them hung their boots for England under different circumstances, but the Player Performance Index from EA SPORTS which calculates the statistics of the players based on their performances in the current season finds both these legends good enough to be a part of the national side.

Last week, EA announced their own English squad based on the performances of the available players in the current season, and now it has taken in to account the statistics of retired English stalwarts Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, John Terry and Rio Ferdinand. Their performances in the league this season were compared with the new generation of players and those statistics reveal that John Terry should be partnering his Chelsea team-mate Gary Cahill in front of the keeper.

Terry has won 87.5% of his tackles this season and has accumulated a PPI score of 180 with Cahill getting 190 to his name. These two are on top with Phil Jagielka coming in next with 157. Rio Ferdinand’s international retirement is justified says EA since his score is just 51.

Jordan Henderson and Jack Wilshere have replaced the duo of Gerrard and Lampard in the playing 11, but statistics say that Gerrard is still better than them both having covered more ground and completed more passes. His overall PPI score stands at 164 with his Liverpool team mate Henderson following closely with 156. But it also reveals that Lampard won’t be able to force his way in now since his numbers (69) are not that impressive.
