Gervinho arrives in Rome ahead of medical at AS Roma
According to reports in Italian media, Arsenal forward Gervinho has landed in Rome to complete an £8 million move to Roma on a four-year contract.
“I’m happy to be here, it was my dream,” Gervinho told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
When the move gets formalised, understood to be in the next few days, it will end the 26-year-old’s torrid time with Gunners.
In July 2011, Arsenal signed him for an undisclosed fee from Lille believed to be in the region of £10 million.
Last season, he was behind Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott in the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium. In 2011-12, he scored just four goals in 28 league matches.
Arsenal this season are looking to strengthen their attacking options, and Gervinho is considered surplus to requirements.
However, Gervinho is now on the verge of once again teaming up with Roma boss Rudi Garcia, under whom he played at Lille.
