Gervinho: I could beat Usain Bolt in a race - on one condition
Gervinho has claimed he could beat Usain Bolt in a race – on the condition they both had a ball at their feet.
The former Arsenal striker netted twice as Roma took a first leg advantage in their Coppa Italia semi-final against Napoli, beating their Serie A rivals 3-2.
And he jested after the game that if there was a race between him and the world record holding sprinter with a ball at the feet, he would defeat the Jamaican superstar.
Gervinho joked, “I would beat him (Bolt) with the ball at my feet. Without the ball, he would be quicker.
“We started pretty well, but we were pushed back by Napoli after the break. Napoli’s early goal in the second half hurt us, but we had the will and the courage to fight back.
“It was a great feeling to score the winner and celebrate with my teammates and the fans.
“It was very important for us to eventually take a win from this first leg. We are now one step closer to the final, but Napoli should not be underestimated.”
The return leg between the two sides will take place next Wednesday, on the 12th of February.
