GIF: Raheem Sterling produces sublime Gerrard-esque assist

Liverpool pair Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge took just three minutes to continue their lethal form of late, combining to put the side 1-0 up against Swansea Cty at Anfield today.

Sterling contributed a defence splitting ball to rival Steven Gerrard’s recent pass against Fulham as one of the assists of the season, playing a perfectly weighted ball pass for Sturridge to round Michel Vorm in the Swansea goal and give Liverpool the perfect start.

The goal also means that Sturridge becomes the first Liverpool player to score in eight league games in a row in the Premier League era.

The ball from Sterling, who looks increasingly likely to be part of England’s World Cup squad this summer, draws parallels with Gerrard’s assist, also setting up a Sturridge goal, against Fulham, and provided a perfect example of Liverpool’s deadly counter attacking play.
