Norway international and Player of Indian origin Harmeet Singh has signed a two-year contract at Molde FK. Singh joins the Tippeligaen (Norwegian top division) club from Feyenoord Rotterdam.

“We are delighted to welcome Harmeet at Molde. He is one of the country’s most promising midfielders and he will be a reinforcement of our squad,” Tarje Nordstrand Jacobsen (Managing Director, Molde FK) told in an official release by the club.

“I think there may be many good experiences in the next few season,” Harmeet Singh told Danish newspaper Aftenposten in a first statement. “Toro (Ole Skullerud) is a very good coach, academically strong and committed. He has developed all the time and is still in progress. I know him from youth teams from my years at Vålerenga.”

“It was important that he had plans for how he would use me, I know that I get playing time in Molde so I can reach my goals as a footballer.”

The talented midfielder nicknamed the “Norwegian Iniesta” joined Dutch powerhouse Feyenoord in July 2012 from Vålerenga Oslo. Singh didn’t manage to earn more than a total of seven appearances for the Dutch side and he asked to go on loan to another club ahead of the 2013–14 season. He was close on joining NEC Nijmegen but the transfer did not happen and he had to stay in Rotterdam.

Feyenoord released Harmeet Singh last autumn and various clubs tried to sign the 23 year old midfielder. Singh decided to sign for Molde FK and he will be part of the squad with immediate effect.

Singh has earned three caps for the Norwegian senior national, but he is still eligible to represent India since the matches were friendly matches. He has stated on various occasions that he would be interested to play for the Indian national team, if he would get a chance to represent “his country”.
