From goalscorer to goalkeeper - A Night to remember for Tottenham's Harry Kane

Harry Kane taking over Hugo Lloris’ role

Harry Kane is not going to forget Tottenham’s Europa League fixture against Asteras Tripolis for a long time. The 21-year-old striker scored a hat-trick for his side and turned goalkeeper towards the end of the match as Mauricio Pochettino's side recorded their first win in the competition with a brilliant 5-1 triumph at White Hart Lane against the Greek team.

Tottenham were brilliant as they romped home with 5 goals. Erik Lamela scored a sublime brace to compliment Harry Kane’s hat-trick.

Hugo Lloris was sent off in the 87th minute for a rash challenge just outside the box thus conceding a free kick to the visitors. Since Tottenham had used up all their substitutes, Harry Kane volunteered to take over the goal for the remaining 5 minutes or so.

Kane regretted his decision really quickly as he let Jeronimo Barrales' tame free-kick slip under his grasp and enter the goal. The Spurs supporters ironically cheered him on though, because they had anyway won the game and Kane himself had scored a wonderful hat-trick.

“It was a great night until I went in goal,' he told ITV4 in his post-match interview afterwards.”

'In fairness I think I'll leave that to the keepers from now on [on his error to concede Asteras' consolation goal]. It was a great result for us, a great win, and obviously I'm happy to get the hat-trick.” said Harry Kane

Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 13th minute, adding on in the 75th and 81st minute, while Lamela scored in the 66th and 29th minute.
