I have a good relationship with Messi: Barcelona vice-president Faus
Javier Faus, vice president of FC Barcelona, has stated that despite of having conflicting views in the past, has stressed that he gets along fine with Lionel Messi.
The Argentine was believed to be caught in a fallout with the board officials in the Camp Nou during his contract talks last December, after he had claimed that Faus “knew nothing about football.” Eventually, Messi signed a new improved contract for the Catalan club but his latest comments regarding his future at Barcelona has sparked rumours of uncertainty again.
But Faus has insisted that he and the 27-year-old don’t hold grudges anymore. Talking in BeIn Sport he said, "Our relationship is very good."
Faus also talked about Barca's targets for the current season and was optimistic that they would enjoy success.
"In football, you either win or lose. We're currently second in the league and we have possibilities in every competition.
"So, we have no worries and the end is a very long time away. We just have to be patient and calm," he added.
Barca face presidential elections in 2016 and Faus is delighted that the club sticks to its traditions, despite the threat of former chief Joan Laporta ousting the current regime.
"Barcelona is a democratic club and we're delighted that this part of the club is alive," he continued.
"Like many other people, Laporta wants to put his name forward and we want a lively, open club and the members will decide who will be president from 2016."
