Rumour: PSG to make £80 million bid to lure Premier League star

Despite the fact that he pledged his future to the club a matter of days ago, reports in the Metro suggest that Paris Saint Germain are interested in making a mammoth £80 million move for Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard. Such a bid – approaching the world record fee paid to Tottenham by Real Madrid for Gareth Bale in the summer – is allegedly going to be made in the summer

The report comes less than two days after the airing of an interview by Hazard with French TV show Telefoot on TF1 in which he clearly refuted claims to be moving on, making it our ridiculous rumour of the day.

The Chelsea midfielder has been pretty clearly earmarked by manager Jose Mourinho as his key man and is under contract at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future.

Hazard was pretty unequivocal about the rumours when questioned by TF1, telling presenters that:

“In every transfer window for the last four years people have been saying I’m going here or there.”

“It was the same when I was at Lille. It’s often Paris, because Paris have money, Paris are a big club.”

“But my choice is Chelsea, I play all the time, and I like it here.”

“There’s no chance of seeing me leave in this transfer window. Even in the summer. I’ve no desire to leave. I think this is the best place for me to progress.”

That would appear to be that then. Rumour over. Or not – so goes our ridiculous rumour of the day.
