"He'd fit their profile perfectly" – Arsenal star told he would be perfect for Manchester City and Newcastle United

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has asserted that Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney would be a good fit for both Manchester City and Newcastle amid interest from both Premier League clubs.

Tierney, 25, has established himself as a vital squad member for the north London outfit since arriving from Celtic for £25 million in 2019. He has helped the Gunners lift a total of two trophies so far, including the FA Cup in 2020.

A tenacious left-back renowned for his marking and crossing, the 37-cap Scotland international has fallen out of favor with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta this season. He has started six of his 25 Premier League appearances so far.

In is column for Caught Offside, Collymore backed Tierney to shine at Manchester City next season. He wrote:

"Tierney has struggled with injuries during his career, but if he can get a handle on that, he is without a doubt a top-level player. If he went to the Etihad, I think he could be to City what Andy Robertson is to Liverpool."

Sharing his thoughts on the Scotsman's ability to fit in at both Manchester City and Newcastle, Collymore added:

"He is definitely capable of being that under-the-radar type of signing that could go on to be one of the club's most reliable players. If he does join City, it would be a blow to Newcastle.
"He would be great; he'd fit their profile perfectly. But if he has the choice of them or City, he is likely to pick the latter, for obvious reasons."

According to Football Insider, Newcastle are in pole position to snap up Tierney on a permanent transfer ahead of City and Aston Villa. They have enticed the Arsenal defender with the prospect of relocating closer to Scotland.

Darren Bent changes opinion on 29-year-old Arsenal star

Former Tottenham Hotspur star Darren Bent, meanwhile, has changed his claim about Arsenal star Thomas Partey, stating that he is inferior to Manchester City midfielder Rodri. During a recent interaction on talkSPORT, he elaborated:

"At the start of the season, for my sins, I was saying it was Thomas Partey. He can't lace Rodri's boots now!"

Partey, 29, earned a lot of plaudits for his reliable outings at the heart of midfield in the first half of the ongoing 2022-23 season. However, due to sub-par form, he has failed to start Arsenal's last three Premier League matches.

Rodri, on the other hand, has turned heads with his eye-catching performances for Pep Guardiola's treble-chasing side this campaign. So far, he has registered three goals and seven assists in 52 games across all competitions.
