The talks of “Pep Guardiola isn’t right for Bayern Munich” and “Xabi Alonso is a liability” were to put to an end by the Bavarians after they handed Porto a humiliating defeat at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday as they progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions League with an aggregate score of 7-4.

Coming off a 3-1 defeat away from home, Pep Guardiola and his men were expected to make a comeback in the tie., and with headers from Thiago and Jerome Boateng in the first 30 minutes of the match, Bayern were already level on aggregate.

Bayern took the lead with a strike from Robert Lewandowski before Thomas Muller would go on to increase the lead further to 4-0. Lewandowski would score once again to add a goal to his tally.

Jackson Martinez goal in the second half proved to be nothing but a consolation for Porto with Xabi Alonso putting the final nail into their coffin with a well-placed free-kick.
