Highlights: Diego Costa and Eden Hazard score as Chelsea beat Leicester City 2-0
Chelsea’s new summer recruit Diego Costa scored his second goal in as many games as they beat Leicester City 2-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues had a tough outing as Costa and Cesc Fabregas made their Premier League home debuts for the club.
Both teams had their chances in the first half with Thibaut Courtois making a fine save when David Nugent was one-on-one. Chelsea could have also had more if not for goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel who made a string of fine saves to keep his side in the game.
Chelsea 1-0 Leicester: Costa (62’)
The Blues finally broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute when Oscar threaded a ball through three Leicester defenders to find Branislav Ivanovic. The Serbian right back then brished off two defenders to cross the ball for Costa in the box. The Brazilian born Spanish striker then chested it down and scored past Schmeichel and a defender on the line.
Chelsea 2-0 Leicester: Hazard (77’)
They then sealed all three points when Eden Hazard scored a goal with a sensational solo effort. Receiving the ball on the left, he side-stepped one defender, dribbled into the box and fired a low shot on goal. Schmeichel looked to have it covered, but a slight deflection took it under him and into the net.
