Highlights: Juventus earn first point of the season in 1-1 draw with Chievo

Coming into the game, Juventus had 0 points from 2 games having lost both their opening fixtures, but they would finally break their points duck by equalising late against a dangerous Chievo side. Paolo Dybala’s 83rd-minute penalty denied the visitors all three points that they looked on course for after leading from the 5th minute through a goal from Hetemaj.

The Old Lady looks absolutely rattled after the departure of three key figures – Arturo Vidal, Carlos Tevez, and Andrea Pirlo – in the summer. Young star Paul Pogba did not start the game but came on at half-time to replace Claudio Marchisio but could not do much in terms of helping the side overturn the deficit. Another substitute on loan from Chelsea, Juan Cuadrado was the one who won the penalty 7 minutes from full-time for the Argentine striker to convert.

There was another key moment in the game that came around the 61-minute mark that swung the game in favour of the home side. Chievo’s Bostjan Cesar sneaked in at Juve’s back post to turn in a team-mate’s header and the away side thought they had doubled the lead.

The ball appeared to have crossed the line and the official who was only feet away appeared to have a clear view of the incident but the goal was disallowed because of a foul committed by the goalscorer in the process of getting to the ball. It was a goal that would have most likely resulted in Chievo walking away with all 3 points.

Chievo will retain their undefeated status this season but Max Allegri’s men find themselves in deep trouble with 1 point from 3 games. The defending champions must now regroup before it’s too late for them to make an impact. It will get harder for them as they are also a part of the group of death in the Champions League along with Manchester City and Sevilla.
