Brazil forward Neymar scored all four goals as they Selecao beat Japan 4-0 in a friendly match in Singapore on Tuesday night.
The Barcelona forward now has 40 goals in 58 matches for Brazil, going past Bebeto’s tally of 39 goals to become Brazil’s fifth-highest scorer of all time.
Neymar is only 22 and can easily break Pele’s record of 77 goals for Brazil. He is currently behind Zico (48), Romario (55) and Ronaldo (62) in the list of all time highest goalscorers for Brazil.
Neymar said after the match: “I got goose bumps. It was a very emotional moment, I felt immense happiness.
“In my wildest dreams I couldn't have imagined something like this. To tell you, I am very happy and grateful to God for all he has done.”
