Real Madrid edged out AC Milan in penalties after the match ended goalless

Real Madrid beat AC Milan 10-9 in the penalty shootout after they finished 0-0 in the International Champions Cup match between the two sides in Shanghai. The match went into a shootout after both teams failed to find a breakthrough in regular time.

The match was decided after a total of 22 penalties were taken and the Real Madrid keeper Kiko Casilla saved the penalty from 16-year-old Milan keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma as the Spanish side came out winners.

Casilla had scored the 21st penalty of the match before he made the winning save. Real Madrid had started the match without the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and James Rodriguez.

Both teams found it hard to adjust to the hot and humid conditions in a cagey affair with few chances. A host of changes were made after the first half as Ronaldo and others came on for Madrid, but both teams failed to score a goal and the match had to be decided after 22 penalties.
